Young Professionals Network in Windsor

For millennials and other young professionals breaking into the working world, there’s a new kind of networking group to help you get started. It’s called the Young Professionals of Windsor, or YPW.  The group was specifically designed to provide working people between the ages of 21 and 40 with the tools, guidance and thought processes to help them make the most out of their business knowledge and connections to build their careers and become leaders.

The group is part of the Windsor Chamber of Commerce. "We are excited to provide this essential service for our younger membership" says Jane Garibay, WCC Executive Director who with with a core group including Rick Haglund (GE), Aaron Simons (360 Federal Credit Union),  Michelle Hawran (Michelle Hawran Illustrations), Nate Adajian (Windsor Federal Savings), Victoria MacGregor (Century 21 All Points Realty) and David Broxterman (Windsor Federal Savings).  Together they developed the mission, structure and the group's first events.

The group was formed because there is much evidence that millennials do things differently and the Chamber wanted to provide younger professionals with networking opportunities that fit better into their lifestyle.

There are regular networking meetings held after hours at a local establishment, usually a tavern or restaurant, where the members interact socially and build rapport, often enjoying a guest speaker on a timely topic.  Some recent guest speakers have been Uyi Osundi, former NFL player and current Windsor High School principal; Jodi Terranova, Pediatrician at Burgdorf Clinic; and Drew Drechsel from "Real Life Ninja.”

The benefits of joining the group include:
• Network to further your own career, and/or opportunities to bring back to your employer that would benefit the company.
• Find a new career
• Be more involved in the community through sponsorships, donations, and volunteering
• Gain experience being involved in a chamber/networking group
• Learn how other professionals successfully grew their own careers
• Interact with professionals of your own age

Young professionals can join online for $20 or $35 depending on their status as a Windsor Chamber member.  For more information, visit or call 860-688-5165.
